Growing conditions
These are vines that grow in the wilds of the tropics from Madagascar to tropical Asia and Northern Australia. In the spring, pinch out new shoots at 4 to 6 leaves to encourage pitcher production and promote bushiness. Ideal growing medium is rot-resistant wood, loose porous rich organic, (peat), fibrous loam, sharp sand, sphagnum type moss, bark fibre and charcoal.
Watering
High humidity is required for the plant to form pitchers.
Aspect
They require shade.
Temperature
Lowland species require very warm summer temperatures and no less than 21 degrees C in the winter. Highland species need frost free conditions and a minimum winter night temp of 11 degrees C.
